Mother-Daughter Fall Session in Valley Forge
There's a kind of light showing up for about six weeks a year close to the Mainline in Valley Forge Park — low, honeyed, and slanting sideways through leaves trying to decide if they're gold or red. It was that light and gorgeous color, perfect for this mom and her two girls at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge Park. Yes, its my favorite time of year there.
The chapel's stone walls and arched doorways give you that timeless, storybook backdrop, but the real magic happens on the surrounding grounds — the cloister garden, the open lawns, the tree-lined paths where kids can actually just be kids while I hang back with my camera and wait. The setting is perfect for families.
And waiting is really the whole approach.
With a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old, you don't pose your way to genuine emotion — you earn it. I let the girls lead the way. The older sister, more serious, the younger one more silly.
The fall foliage did most of the heavy lifting — rust, amber, and that specific Pennsylvania red you only get for a couple weeks — but it's the unposed moments that made it special.
That's what I mean the Real Moments. Genuine Emotion. It's not a tagline it's the actual plan for every session. Kids can't fake a feeling, and honestly, I don't want them to. My job is to be ready when the real thing happens.
If you're picturing a fall session of your own — I'd love to help you plan it. Locations like Washington Memorial Chapel book up fast once the leaves start turning, so if fall photos are on your mind, now's the time to reach out.
